A blood donation camp, with the help of the Rotary Blood Bank, Delhi was organized on 15.08.2003, the 57th Independence Day, at Rohini. Many workers and their family members voluntarily donated blood. They were made aware of the importance of the event i.e. they were donating blood and that was meant for a good cause and in a similar fashion, the Board was now going to embark on a divine mission of establishing a blood bank exclusively for them by the name of "Rajiv Gandhi Shramik Blood Bank". Arrangements in this regard are on the verge of completion and it will start functioning very soon in the near future. Injuries to the workers at their workplaces or injuries due to accidents are as common as anything. Proper treatment in the event of anyone needing blood is a far-cry. At a place far from their native places, they find themselves at sea when are asked either to provide replacement (of blood) or to pay a hefty price. They would now be provided with blood on demand without any replacement and at free of cost by this Blood Bank. This is a unique proposal, something that was not even thought of earlier.
